Serving 430 girls Grades 6-12, Archer creates joyful and ambitious learning in an environment that combines a 21-century approach to pedagogy, technology, and social issues with the latest research on how girls learn best.
The Archer School for Girls is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced photography teacher. Archer is an innovative learning community with a robust arts program and a commitment to fostering creative connections across the curriculum. Archer offers beginning and advanced photography courses to 8 – 12 grade students. The photography curriculum includes teaching students how to use a 35 mm film camera, develop images in a wet and digital darkroom, and manipulate images using digital tools. Candidates should be comfortable setting up and maintaining the darkroom.
We are looking for a visionary teacher who can educate the photographers of tomorrow using a range of techniques, including advanced technology. The ideal candidate holds a BFA or MFA in Photography, possesses 3-5 years of secondary school teaching experience, a strong educational background, exemplary teaching skills, and experience as a working professional. Candidates must be skilled in Adobe Photoshop and have a vast knowledge of image manipulation and digital tools.
Further, candidates should also have demonstrated expertise in student-centered, collaborative, and inquiry-based teaching methodologies. A desire to collaborate with colleagues, the flexibility to teach at multiple grade levels, and an active interest in teaching in a one-to-one laptop classroom are essential. Experience with project-based and technology-based learning is preferred.
